Belonging everywhere, belonging nowhere
There is a certain romanticism
In belonging everywhere
At home in every town, every city, every square
To be welcomed by everyone
Dispensing with the universal stare
Warmly embraced, brought in to bosom
Brother, that’s what you are to me
There is a certain wonderment
In belonging just nowhere
No claim to any land , nor hillock, nor blue sea
To be invisible to passersby
Ignored at every corner and every turn
Wander unrecognised, not a whisper, not a care
Stranger you be, that is all you are to me.
